ANG-4021 - Galectin-3 Inhibitor Program

Galectin-3 is a sugar-binding protein (lectin) with preference for β-galactoside-containing carbohydrates.  It is widely expressed in various mammalian tissues. Galectin-3 has an established role in the development and progression of numerous diseases, including fibrosis.  Inhibiting the activity of galectin-3 may have therapeutic benefit in treatment of various fibrotic disease that affect major organs including the kidney and liver.
